The Aztecs were a very important group during their period. They controlled a lot of the land and people. When the Aztecs started out they were a very tiny group consisting of close to 80 people. In the begining the Aztecs were wanders because other indian groups pushed them out of their home land. The Aztecs god said that they wold find their true home land when they saw an eagle perched on a cactus with a snake in it's beak. The Aztecs then began to search for their home land. A couple years after searching they came to a island and their leader said to look over there it was said to be the eagle on a cactus with a snake in it's mouth just as the god had said. So the Aztecs set up their tents on the land and later built their homes if you go to that site today you can still see the buildings to this very day.
